Congress Maharashtra Ministers Meet Sonia and Rahul Gandhi

After the much delay, Uddhav Thackeray finally expanded his cabinet on Monday, 30th December. It is said that the delay had been because NCP, Shiv-Sena and INC were unable to come to decision on portfolio sharing. It was also said that the cabinet expansion was to happen in the last week but the top leadership in Congress had not approved the list till Monday.

After the cabinet expansion on Monday, Congress Ministers met party interim president Sonia Gandhi and former chief Rahul Gandhi. The ministers were accompanied by Mallikarjun Kharge, K.C. Venugopal and party secretary Ashish Dua. In addition to this, Senior ministers Balasaheb Thorat and Ashok Chavan, who took oath on Monday, also met the top leadership.

According to reports, there are internal differences in regards to the people who have been given birth. It is being said that the senior leaders have been overlooked and new faces such as Aslam Sheikh and Varsha Gaikwad were inducted in the cabinet.

However, a Congress leader has said that the purpose of the meeting was to discuss the party outreach program in the state and also to give a feedback on the alliance. And another one said that the meeting was to thank the party chief for taking the right step at the right time.  

In the Maha Vikas Aghadi, Congress has secured the post of Speaker and 12 berths. It is also being said that in this meeting, the ministers spoke about giving priority to Common Minimum program. 

It is said that Priyanka Gandhi Vadra who was in Uttar Pradesh, left her trip midway to join in this meet.
