Ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha and Maharashtra Assembly elections, the state-level ‘Jan Sangharsh Yatra’ initiated by Maharashtra Congress against the central and state government ended in Bhiwandi on Friday. Later, a rally was carried out from Bhiwandi Bypass to Millat Nagar’s Mamu-Bhanja ground.

Jan Sangharsh Yatra ended, but the struggle will continue. Power looms industry provides the highest employment after agriculture but the establishment has ruined it,” Maharashtra Congress President Ashok Chavan said while addressing the gathering.

Congress has always given importance to power loom industry. It provided electricity at cheaper rates and almost 55 per cent of weaver’s arrears were waived along with the bank loans. GST has stalled this industry,” Chavan asserted.

While raising slogan against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and labelling Modi as a “thief”, Chavan added that they had fought with the whites (Britishers) earlier, now they are fighting with the thieves. Several Congress leaders and party workers including Sachin Sawant, Husain Dalwai, and others were present at the rally.
