The Maharashtra Congress Party is gearing up to launch a series of padyatras across the state. These foot marches are scheduled to commence on August 16. They will encompass six distinct areas, including Mumbai. The objective of these padyatras is to bring light to the shortcomings of the government.

Nana Patole, the state party president, has revealed plans for a statewide "bus yatra" scheduled for September. This will cover more ground efficiently and engage with more constituents.

The party has also clearly defined its leadership roles in the padyatras. Opposition leader Vijay Wadettiwar will be leading the march in western Vidarbha. Nana Patole will take on the foot march in the northern part of Vidarbha.

"The padyatra in western Maharashtra will be led by former chief minister Prithviraj Chavan; in Marathwada, former chief minister Ashok Chavan will lead the walk; in north Maharashtra, senior leader Balasaheb Thorat will lead the party; and in Mumbai, city Congress president Varsha Gaikwad will take the lead," Patole said.

The party's focus will also extend to the Konkan region. This region has traditionally been less strong for the Congress. These upcoming padyatras will have fewer participants and a streamlined infrastructure as compared to the initial "Bharat Jodo Yatra."

Meanwhile, on the national front, Rahul Gandhi will embark on the second leg of the "Bharat Jodo Yatra." His route will take him from Gujarat through the northeastern state. This time it will also cover northern states such as Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. The objective is to make an impact in states that are nearing elections. During the 22-day journey, Rahul Gandhi aims to disseminate a message of peace, particularly in the politically crucial state of Uttar Pradesh.

Rahul Gandhi's monumental 130-day journey from Kanyakumari to Kashmir has set the precedent for such endeavours, showcasing the party's dedication to connecting with the masses through grassroots-level engagement.
