Uddhav Thackeray took oath as 19th chief minister of Maharashtra at Shivaji Park. He took oath 6:45 PM and it was administered by Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari.  Thackeray is the third Sena leader after Manohar Joshi and Narayan Rane to occupy the top post.


He is the first member of the Thackeray family to have become the Chief Minister of Maharashtra. Apart from Thackeray, six members of the Maha Aghadi Alliance too were sworn in as ministers. These included Eknath Shinde (Shiv Sena), Subhash Desai (Shiv Sena), Jayant Patil (NCP), Chhagan Bhujbal ( NCP), Balasaheb Thorat (Congress) and Nitin Raut ( Congress) were sworn in as ministers.

The swearing-in ceremony was attended by thousands of party workers from Shiv-Sena, Congress and NCP. Even Save Aarey activist made their presence felt at this mega event. NCP chief Sharad Pawar, senior Congress leaders Ahmed Patel and Mallikarjun Kharge, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath, Devendra Fadnavis, Ajit Pawar and his cousin and MP Supriya Sule,  DMK leader MK Stalin attended the mega event.

Uddhav Thackery had also invited his estranged cousin and MNS chief Raj Thackeray and he graced the function. The other members of the Thackeray family present for the occasion were  Uddhav Thackeray’s wife Rashmi, his MLA-son Aaditya. Even industrialist Mukesh Ambani’s came for the event with his wife Nita and son Anant.

Post the swearing-in ceremony, the Thackeray family headed to Siddhi Vinayak Temple to attend the aarti.
