Maharashtra Tourism Minister, Aaditya Thackeray and the respective department has been working hard to boost the tourism sector. Officials have identified potential opportunities in the field of tourism, and are focused towards developing the same. Besides protecting the environment, the state is also considering the promotion of industries, tourism and related developments.

The department states that post the coronavirus pandemic, the scope for the newer opportunities in the tourism sector has increased and this sector will be given a boost by the state government, which would in turn help in the development of new jobs and businesses

The Tourism Ministry along with the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) recently organised a symposium at the Sahyadri Guest House with an aim to get the participation from various private organizations in the hospitality business at important tourist destinations in the state. Minister Aaditya Thackeray shared his thoughts about the events and discussed the potential scope in increasing visitors across Maharashtra.

The online event was attended by Minister of State for Tourism Aditi Tatkare, Principal Secretary for Tourism Valsa Nair-Singh, Managing Director of MTDC Ashutosh Salil, Joint Director of Tourism Dhananjay Savalkar and other esteemed hoteliers.

Speaking on the occasion, Tourism Minister Aaditya Thackeray said that the hospitality sector was recently given the status of an industry with an aim to boost tourism in the state. The number of licenses required for new businesses have now reduced from 70 to 10. Moreover, Maharashtra's agri-tourism policy, Beach Shack Policy and other plans were also announced along with the the ‘Ease of Doing Business initiative which focuses towards empowering businesses which could offer employment to the locals and promote respective locations with the tourism sector in the state. He shared his support and sought participation as the scope of  tourism development is promising for the entrepreneurs wishing to invest in Maharashtra.

Reports state that the tourism department is taking a number of important steps such as concessions in hospitality for hospitality professionals, MoUs for tourism, etc., as a part of the plan. Currently, new initiatives are being implemented in this field, and while sharing the same, he expressed his confidence that the state would be at the forefront of tourism as it would provide quality facilities to the tourists. Besides the growth of the sector, the department has also learned about the opportunities to grow revenue, offer employment and boost entrepreneurship.

Various hospitality industry groups, tourism business companies like Taj Hotels, Hyatt Group, Intercontinental, Oberoi Hotels, Club Mahindra, Fab Hotels, GHV Group, ITC Hotels, Sterling Holidays, Tulip Stars & Silvassa Resort, Bawa Group, Chalet Hotels, Hilt Group, Innovest Hospitals, etc. participated in the discussion and presentation.
