On Tuesday, April 20, the Maharashtra government shunned out Food & Drugs Administration (FDA) commissioner Abhimanyu Kale. This comes in the wake of the controversy surrounding the Daman-based pharmaceutical company Bruck Pharma over the procurement of anti-viral drug Remdesivir by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders in Mumbai.

Now Parimal Singh, a 2004-batch officer, will replace him for the position in the administration.

BJP MLA Atul Bhatkhalkar has strongly criticized this move by the state government. Bhatkhalkar has slammed the Thackeray government and called it "revenge politics".

“When Maharashtra was in trouble, it did not help Maharashtra on its own. On the contrary, it created an atmosphere of confusion. I discussed this with Food and Drug Administration Minister Rajendra Shingane and he agreed. This is not a threat. I will not talk more about it," said Jitendra Awhad welcoming this move.

BJP MLA Atul Bhatkhalkar has strongly condemned the Thackeray government over the transfer of Abhimanyu Kale. “The Thackeray government has reached the pinnacle of revenge by replacing FDA Commissioner Abhimanyu Kale, who had given a letter to the BJP for Remdesivir. Maharashtra's interests are gone, the Thackeray government has decided not to allow anything to succeed without a percentage," tweeted Bhatkhalkar.

However, Foods & Drugs Administration (FDA) Minister Dr Rajendra Shingane on Tuesday, April 20, admitted that the 60,000 vials of Remdesivir injections procured by the BJP were intended for the Maharashtra government.
