According to the latest reports, Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut has been summoned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Tuesday, June 28 in a money laundering case. This case is linked to the Patra Chawl redevelopment scam.

It is pertinent to note that the summon to Raut, a leader who has been extremely vocal about the BJP comes at a time when the Maharashtra political milieu is tenuous.

Reacting to this development, Raut took to Twitter to state, "I understand now that the ED has sent me a summons. We all went to Balasaheb's Shiv Sainiks in a big battle to stop Ahotam .. this conspiracy is going on. Jai Maharashtra!". Raut also tagged BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis in the tweet.

Based on accounts, it was in April that the ED had provisionally attached immovable properties amounting to INR 11.15 crore. This reportedly includes a flat in Dadar which was in Raut's wife, Varsha's name. In addition, it also includes eight land parcels at Kihim near Alibaug which is allegedly jointly held by Varsha with Swapna Patkar.

Narratives claim that Swapna is the wife of Sujit Patkar, who is claimed to be a close associate of Raut.

Earlier, on February 3, the ED conducted searches at Patkar's Mumbai residence, who is a partner in a firm of Raut's daughters Purvashi and Vidhita, in connection with the INR 1,034 crores Patra Chawl land scam case.

Reports claim that the ED officials suspect that proceeds of crime from the sale of floor space index (FSI) of Patra Chawl land might have also gone to Patkar.

The ED is investigating the Alibaug land deal and whether it was purchased from money generated from Guruashish constructions through the illegal sale of FSI from Patra Chawl land.
