Maharashtra School Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad has defeated Coronavirus and made a full recovery. On Monday, she tested negative for COVID-19 and was discharged from the hospital. She said that it was the love and good wishes of the people that helped her in her speedy recovery. Gaikwad also stressed on how proper diet, pranayam and meditation helped her in her against coronavirus and how she used this time to catch up on her reading. 

Gaikwad, senior Congress leader, is member of the legislative assembly representing the Dharavi Assembly constituency in Mumbai. 

On Tuesday, September 2w Gaikwad had informed that she has tested positive for COVID-19 but is currently doing well. She has appealed those who came in her contact to follow protocol. Gaikwad was on a tour of Nanded, Parbhani and Hingoli districts from September 15 to 17 on the occasion of Marathwada Liberation Day. It is believed that she may have caught on the virus during this time. She had developed a fever and gone for a test. When her reports came positive, she was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital for treatment.

To beat the coronavirus, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray had started My Family, My Responsibility' campaign. This campaign entails door-to-door survey for tracing and treating patients suffering from the coronavirus, identifying people with co-morbidities, raising awareness and educating citizens on safety measures to break the chain of transmission. The CM earlier shared the progress of this initiative and told that 69.94 lakh households have been surveyed via 55,268 teams. Out of 37,733 suspected cases, 4,517 people have reported testing positive for the coronavirus.
