This year Maharashtra saw an addition of 4,12,416 in the final electoral roll. Now the number of voters in the upcoming elections stands at 9.12 crore. This year the age group of 18 to 29 saw an increase of 1 percent in voters while the voter percentage from age 40 to 80+ has shown a decrease of 3 percent when compared to the draft electoral roll.

Shrikant Deshpande, Chief Electoral Officer of Maharashtra said that a state-wide door-to-door survey campaign and special summary revision plan were implemented to update the electoral rolls in anticipation of the state's impending legislative and assembly elections. The efforts undertaken in this programme have resulted in a notable rise in the percentage of new electors in the final electoral rolls.

On October 27, 2023, the initiative was officially inaugurated by the availability of the Draft Electoral Roll at the offices of Electoral Registration Officers and on the Chief Electoral Officer's website. This programme concluded on January 23, 2024.

Under this procedure, 24,33,766 electors' names were added to or enrolled in the Draft Electoral Roll of October 2023. 20,21,350 electors were also eliminated from it.

Thus, Shrikant Deshpande asserted that the total number of electors in the Final Electoral Roll increased to 9,12,44,679 by the net addition of 4,12,416 electors.

A net rise of 3,08,306 female electors, 572 third-gender electors, and 1,01,869 male electors was recorded. The male-female or population ratio in the Electoral Roll grew from 917 to 922.

6,70,302 new electors in the 18 to 19 age group and 8,33,496 new electors in the 20–29 age group were recruited during the revision programme.

In the Draft Electoral Roll, there were 3,48,691 (0.38 percent) electors in the 18 to 19 age range. By January's Final Electoral Roll, there were 10,18,993 (1.12 percent).

The number of voters in the 20 to 29 years age group in the Draft Electoral Roll was 1,55,11,376 (17.8 percent). In the Final Electoral Roll it has increased to 1,63,44,872 (17.91 percent).

The final electoral roll shows a 3% decline in the voter percentage for the age group ranging from 40 to 80+ compared to the draft electoral roll. 11,60,696 deceased electors across the state were removed from the electoral roll. Among the removed voters, 4,92,395 electors were older than 80 years old.

In the Electoral Rolls, 9,05,559 electors with comparable photos (Photo Similar Entries or PSEs) were discovered.

The names of 2,84,620 electors were deleted following a thorough scrutiny process, stated Deshpande. Additionally, the Electoral Roll contained 2,54,460 electors with identical names and additional information (known as Demographically identical Entries, or DSE).

After careful examination, 74,426 electors' names were removed from the list.

Deshpande advised voters to verify that their name is included in the final electoral roll by going to the "Voter Service Portal" website (https://electoralsearch.eci.gov.in/) to make sure all the information is accurate. The final electoral roll has been published on the websites of the Chief Election Officer, Collector, and Electoral Registration Officer offices.

Deshpande advised the residents whose names are not on the electoral roll to complete form number 6 in order to secure their right to vote.
