Police issues notice to Manoj Jarange, ask protestors to leave Azad Maidan

Against the backdrop of the ongoing Maratha reservation protest at Mumbai's Azad Maidan, police action has begun following orders from the High Court. Citing violations of rules, the police have issued notices to eight members of Manoj Jarange Patil’s core committee, instructing them to immediately vacate the Azad Maidan.

For the past several days, Maratha protesters have been camped at Azad Maidan. This protest has led to significant traffic congestion and other issues across the city. Due to these disruptions, the police have served notices to eight members of Jarange Patil’s core committee. The committee includes Kishor Aba Markad, Pandurang Tarak, Shailendra Markad, Sudam Bappa Mukne, Balasaheb Ingle, Adv. Amol Lahane, Shriram Kurankar, and Sanjay Katare.


Permission for the protest denied due to rule violations

In the notice, police stated that the protesters have violated the terms and conditions laid down by both the court and the police. As a result, the permission for the protest, which was sought by Jarange Patil, has been denied.

Police further mentioned in the notice that the protest has disrupted normal life in Mumbai, causing considerable inconvenience to the public. Traffic jams have worsened, and the law and order situation in the city has been affected. Therefore, the police have instructed Jarange Patil and his committee members to vacate Azad Maidan immediately.
