MNS to contest Gram Panchayat elections in the state

All office bearers from MNS have been asked to field their candidates across all Gram Panchayats in their area. Raj Thackeray has further instructed all office bearers to send complete information of all the candidates to MNS' central office.

In a recently made announcement, Raj Thackeray-led Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) has decided to contest the Gram Panchayat elections with full vigour. Reports state that the party is preparing for the elections in Maharashtra and orders for the same has been given by the MNS president to workers across the state.

Keeping the elections in mind, all office bearers from MNS have been asked to field their candidates across all Gram Panchayats in their area with full force. Raj Thackeray has further instructed all MNS office bearers to send complete information of all the candidates to MNS' central office.

The elections will be held for about 14,234 Gram Panchayats in 34 districts of Maharashtra and are scheduled on January 15, 2021. The counting of votes will take place on January 18, 2021. Information regarding the same along with the code of conduct was announced by UPS Madan recently.

Reports state that the polling for the 1,566 Gram Panchayats was earlier scheduled on March 31, 2020, but was later postponed in the period between April and June 2020. However, the elections scheduled on March 17, 2020, was then rescheduled due to coronavirus pandemic but was eventually cancelled thereafter. In addition, this election program has been announced for all the newly established Gram Panchayats which will be held at the end of December 2020.

Nominations for this election will be accepted from December 23-30, 2020 and will not be accepted on public holidays. They will be examined on December 31, 2020. Nomination papers can be withdrawn till January 4, 2021, and election symbol will be distributed on the same day. Voting will take place on January 15, 2021, from 7.30 am to 5.30 pm. However, polling in Gadchiroli district will be from 7.30 am to 3 pm only. The counting will take place on January 18, 2021, added Madan.
