After Election Commission of India (ECI) issued a ban on the release of Modi biopic during Lok Sabha election 2019, the trailer of the film starring Vivek Oberoi has been removed from YouTube. The release of the film was initially scheduled on April 5. However, on April 10, the EC decided to ban the release for the same during LS poll till May 19.

Earlier on Monday, the Supreme Court asked the Election Commission to watch the biopic titled – PM Narendra Modi – and then take their decision to put a ban on its release. The decision comes after the makers of the biopic filed a petition in the apex court. The matter will be heard on April 22.

After the trailer was launched on March 21, there was a huge row around the issue with opposition targeting the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Prime Minister Narendra Modi saying that it is propaganda ahead of the polls to influence the voters.
