Surat court sentenced Rahul Gandhi to two years in the case of defamation of Modi surname. After that today Rahul Gandhi's membership of parliament has been cancelled and he has been disqualified as an MP. Meanwhile, while various political reactions are coming from this, Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee President Nana Patole has criticised the Modi government. He was talking to the media in the legislature area.

What did Nana Patole say?
Today, the decision to cancel Rahul Gandhi's candidacy has been taken through the Narendra Modi government. This decision is anti-democratic. In the last 9 years, Prime Minister Modi's friends have syphoned off lakhs and thousands of crores of rupees from the country. However, the Lok Sabha membership of Rahul Gandhi, who raised his voice against him, has been cancelled. Nana Patole gave an angry reaction that we condemn this and condemn the Modi government.

What exactly is the case?
Rahul Gandhi had made a controversial statement on April 13, 2019 at an election rally in Kolar, Karnataka. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had said, “Why do Nirav Modi, Lalit Modi, Narendra Modi have the same last name? Why are all thieves surnamed Modi?” Regarding this statement, BJP MLA Purnesh Modi had filed a criminal defamation case against Rahul in the Surat Sessions Court. In his complaint, the BJP MLA alleged that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi defamed the entire Modi surname by saying that all thieves have the surname Modi. Meanwhile, the Surat court had convicted Rahul Gandhi and sentenced him to two years in this case yesterday.
