Azad Maidan police have registered a case against MLA Varsha Gaikwad along with 16 office bearers and 60 to 70 protestors in connection with the march taken out by the Congress and NCP outside the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) headquarters along with the sweepers. A police officer said that a case has been registered for taking out a march without any permission.


Contractual system is being adopted for sanitation in special slums in Mumbai. Due to the contract system, the daily labourers will face starvation. Therefore, the cleaning workers' organisations protested outside the municipal headquarters on Wednesday demanding that the municipal administration should cancel the tenders worth Rs.1200 cr. Congress, NCP (Sharad Pawar Group), AAP, Communist Party and allied parties of India Alliance also participated in this movement.

In the background of this movement, a large police force was kept outside the civic body. The BMC headquarters and the roads in front were closed by erecting barricades. The protesters tried to enter the headquarters by blocking this road. But the police arrested him. After that, the delegation of the protesters tried to meet BMC Commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal.


But they were prevented from going to the headquarters. Police detained hundreds of protesters and took them to Azad Maidan police station. The Azad Maidan Police registered a case against Mumbai Congress President Varsha Gaikwad along with Prakash Reddy and 15 other officials, as well as 60 to 70 protesters. The officer said that a case has been registered for taking out a march without permission and violating the curfew order.


Crime against youth congress workers in road block case

The Youth Congress had blocked the road at Mantralaya on Wednesday. In that case, the Marine Drive Police registered a case against Youth Congress State President Kunal Raut and 17 workers. A case was registered for violation of curfew order. The Youth Congress staged a road stop protest near Mantralaya on Wednesday to protest that the SBI has not yet given the list sought by the Supreme Court in connection with the Electro Bonds. At that time, all the officials were detained and taken to Azad Maidan Police Station. All of them were released with notice.
