After the Mumbai Congress, now the movement to make major changes in the state Congress has gained momentum. State in-charge H.K. Patil arrived in Mumbai on Tuesday and it is understood that he will hold meetings with senior party leaders, MLAs and office bearers for two consecutive days and examine the changes within the party.

Although the general election of the Mumbai Municipal Corporation was postponed, Bhai Jagtap was elected as the President of the Mumbai Congress. But by suddenly electing ex-minister Varsha Gaikwad as the president in his place, there have been indications of major changes in the state Congress in the wake of the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections.

The factionalism within the state Congress occasionally rears its head. The dispute between the state president Nana Patole and Congress Legislature Party leader Balasaheb Thorat had reached Delhi. There is no solution yet. Congress will have to fight the upcoming Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in the state by forming an alliance with Shiv Sena and NCP through the Maha Vikas Aghadi. At that time, while maintaining proper coordination with the allied parties, the existence of the party in frontline politics will also have to be maintained. In this regard, there is a possibility that some important changes will be made in the state Congress as well.

Last week, former minister Vijay Vadettiwar went to Delhi and met some senior leaders. After that, former Chief Minister Ashok Chavan is understood to have gone to Delhi and met party president Mallikarjun Kharge and discussed the political situation in the state. For the first time, the meeting of the core committee will be held in Patil’s presence.
