Former MIM corporator of Ward No. 145 in Anushakti Nagar, Shahnawaz Shaikh recently joined Chief Minister Eknath Shinde's Shiv Sena. He joined the Shiv Sena in a meeting at Varsha's residence. On this occasion Chief Minister Shinde welcomed him to the party. After the split in the Shiv Sena, former corporators of the Thackeray group in Mumbai have joined Shinde's Shiv Sena one by one. So far, more than thirty former corporators have left Thackeray's Shiv Sena. Shinde's group then tried to weaken the Congress party in Mumbai. Five Congress corporators then joined the Shinde group.


Former corporator from Sion Koliwada Pushpa Koli, Wajid Qureshi from Chandivali, former corporator from Dharavi and trustee of Siddhivinayak Trust Bhaskar Shetty, Babbu Khan, Kunal Mane and former corporator Ganga Kunal Mane joined Shinde's Shiv Sena from Congress. Former NCP corporator Dhanshree Bharadkar also joined the Shinde group earlier. In addition, Shinde's party has also brought a former MIM corporator into its party.

In the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections held in 2017, two MIM candidates had won. It included Shahnawaz Sheikh from Anushaktinagar. He has now joined the Shinde faction. In August, former Thackeray MLA Tukaram Kate joined Shinde's Shiv Sena. At that time, his daughter-in-law former corporator Samriddhi Kate too left Thackeray’s group.
