An all-party delegation will meet the state's Chief Electoral Officer on Tuesday, October 14 to discuss the current election process, as there are some doubts about it.

The delegation will include Nationalist Congress Party President Sharad Pawar, Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray, MNS chief Raj Thackeray, and Congress state president Harshvardhan Sapkal. It is considered important for Raj Thackeray to participate with the leaders of the Maha Vikas Aghadi.

Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut has also invited Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to participate in the all-party delegation. The main purpose of the visit is to strengthen democracy and strengthen trust in the electoral system. Raut has stated in his letter to the Chief Minister that there is no political motive behind this visit and that he should participate and enhance the prestige of the all-party delegation.

Elections to all municipal corporations, municipalities, district councils, and panchayats in the state, including the Mumbai Municipal Corporation, will be announced soon. MP Raut said that the role of political parties is to ensure that there is no doubt about the system and process of these elections, that the elections are fair, transparent and fully comply with the Constitution. An all-party delegation will meet Chief Electoral Officer Chokkalingam to draw the attention of the Election Commission to this.

Sharad Pawar Visits Mantralaya After Several Years

Sharad Pawar, who has served as Maharashtra’s Chief Minister four times, rarely visits Mantralaya. His last known visit was after the fire incident at the state headquarters. This recent visit marks his return to the ministry after many years.

Meanwhile, within the Congress party, there are differing opinions regarding his participation in the all-party delegation. Some leaders believe the party had previously decided that its members should not associate with the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), which has led to internal debate over Pawar’s involvement.

Extension of deadline for objections and suggestions

The State Election Commission has extended the deadline till October 17 for objections and suggestions on the ward-wise draft electoral roll for the general elections for the posts of members and direct presidents of municipal councils and municipal panchayats in the state.

Objections and suggestions can now be filed till October 17, 2025 instead of October 13. The final ward-wise voter list will be published on October 31, 2025 instead of October 28.

An all-party delegation will meet the state's Chief Electoral Officer tomorrow, Tuesday, to discuss the current election process, as there are some doubts about it.
