Maharashtra Minority Affairs Minister and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) spokesperson, Nawab Malik on Monday slammed Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Devendra Fadnavis over his challenge to the three-party alliance Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government calling for fresh elections.

While talking to the media, Nawab Malik said that BJP leaders make such statements on a daily basis and they think about coming to power every day.

“Devendra Fadnavis and the BJP can’t live without being in power. The BJP leaders make such remarks every day. Fadnavis yesterday said that they will defeat the MVA government. If the civic elections take place, BJP will be in a worse position than it was in Delhi. They are thinking about how they can come to power. It is a disease, please consult a good doctor,” NCP leader Nawab Malik said.

Malik’s remarks come after Devendra Fandavis challenged the MBA government to contest mid-term elections. Fadnavis was speaking at the state-level BJP convention organised by the party ahead of the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) polls. The BJP leaders met for the first time after they failed to form the government in Maharashtra.

“Shiv Sena should dissolve the government and contest mid-term polls again. The people of Maharashtra will show Shiv Sena its place,” former Chief Minister and BJP leader, Devendra Fadnavis asserted.

Earlier, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray had alleged that the BJP was planning to launch ‘Operation Lotus’ to topple his government in Maharashtra. CM Thackeray dared the BJP to do the same while speaking in Jalgaon on February 15.
