Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has made sensational claims alleging that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will launch ‘Operation Lotus’ in the state in April. Daring the BJP to topple the three-party alliance Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government in the state, Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray slammed the saffron party for planning ‘Operation Lotus’.

During the Karnataka assembly polls, the opposition had labelled the BJP’s infamous act of luring MLAs as ‘Operation Lotus’. This is used by the saffron party to shift power in its favour. In Karnataka, BJP managed to come to power after toppling Janata Dal (Secular) and Congress government.

While addressing the gathering Jalgaon on February 15, CM Uddhav Thackeray had challenged the BJP to topple his government in Maharashtra. This comes after the BJP claimed that Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government will fall soon due to the infighting.

“If you are planning to topple our government then I challenge you to do it today itself. I, Balasaheb Thackeray’s son, accept the challenge. People are happy with the current government and they have already thrown you out of power,” Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray said.

CM Thackeray made these remarks in the presence of NCP chief Sharad Pawar who has attacked the Maharashtra government over the issue of supporting the transfer of the Bhima Koregaon violence case to National Investigation Agency (NIA).

Sharad Pawar had said that the central government’s decision to transfer the case to NIA was unfair and the Maharashtra government approving the same was more unfair. Maharashtra Home Minister and NCP leader, Anil Deshmukh had also expressed that the centre should not transfer the case to NIA while alleging that the Devendra Fadnavis regime was trying to protect “some people.”

Reacting to Uddhav Thackeray’s decision, Deshmukh said that he wanted the state police to investigate the matter while adding that Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has “overruled” the stand of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) on the issue.
