After the backward class commission submitted its report on Maratha reservation, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Thursday appealed to the Maratha community to not protest and asked them to prepare for celebration on December 1

The opposition parties have opposed CM Fadnavis over his statement and expressed their dissatisfaction. Opposition leader Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil on Saturday announced that they will bring a breach of privilege motion against the Chief Minister in the upcoming winter session of Maharashtra Assembly.

In order to press their demands, Maratha Kranti Morcha activists under the leadership of Sambhaji Patil have gone on an indefinite strike for 16 days now. Despite the report submitted by the commision which suggests 16 per cent reservation of Maratha community, they have refused to end their strike.

While talking to the media, the opposition leader said that the commission has submitted its report to the chief secretary. “The report is yet to be presented before the state assembly and the chief minister is telling people to celebrate. For what?” asked Vikhe Patil.

Chief Minister and the members of the commission are talking about the report in public before presenting it in the assembly session and this amounts to the breach of privilege.
