Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dream project to construct the Kashi Vishwanath corridor for the ease of tourists is creating huge problems for the locals. Many have claimed and protested against the demolition of the old temples and historic buildings in Varanasi.

Amid the demolition of hundreds of old temples for the corridor whose foundation stone was laid by PM Modi, Congress leader Sanjay Nirupam said that Modi is a modern-day avatar of Mughal ruler Aurangzeb.

In the name of constructing the corridor, hundreds of temples are being demolished under the instruction of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The people of Banaras have chosen Modi who is the modern-day avatar of Aurangzeb,” Congress leader Sanjay Nirupam claimed.

While speaking to media during a rally, Nirupam further stated, “In order to catch the site of Baba Vishwanath a fee or charge of ₹550 is being imposed. Aurangzeb also implemented jizya (tax) on devotees.”

Nirupam further attacked Modi saying that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also imposed a tax on the devotees to get a glimpse of Baba Vishwanath. “The irony is that those who talk about Hindu rights are destroying temples. This explains that what Aurangzeb failed to do is being done by PM Modi. I condemn the modern-day Aurangzeb,” added Nirupam.
