He was speaking during a meeting of BDD Chawl Rehabilitation Project which took place in Mantralaya.

2950 houses will be handed over to the home department

BDD chawl has sheltered about 2950 police personnel for the last 30 years. The CM said that when MHADA's houses are ready, 2950 of them should be transferred to the home department. He said that the Home Department should decide the criteria while giving out the houses. The CM also instructed that the families who started living illegally in BDD chawl after 1996 should be regularised and should work on MHADA’s houses at the earliest.

When the redevelopment of the BDD chawl project was being discussed, the question of their rehabilitation was of utmost importance before the government and so the decision was taken to give houses in the same place to the policemen.
