According to a statement issued by the Rashtrapati Bhavan on Sunday, December 5, President Ram Nath Kovind will visit Maharashtra from December 6 to 9.

The President’s visit begins today, December 6, with a visit to the historic Raigad fort to pay tribute to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

Reports stated that a helipad has been constructed at Holicha Mal atop Raigad fort for the visit. The fort is at a height of 1,356 metres. Officials stated that arrangements have also been made at another helipad constructed at Pachad, which is below the fort. There are 1,737 steps leading to the fort, which was the seat of Shivaji.

Helicopter landings at the fort started in the 1980s. This continued for over two decades during ministerial visits. However, local protests against helicopter landings ended this practice.

Moreover, on Wednesday, November 8, Kovind will present the President's Standard to the 22nd Missile Vessel Squadron in Mumbai, the statement said. In the morning, he will travel to the Naval Dockyard in Mumbai and award the President’s Standard to the 22nd Missile Vessel Squadron (MVS), also known as the Killer Squadron, at a ceremonial parade.

Besides, on December 7, the President will visit the Air Force Station in Lohegaon in Pune, witness a flying display and interact with air warriors.
