Maharashtra cabinet on Tuesday decided that the public transport including local trains and buses will continue to function. Along with this, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray clarified that there is no holiday for the government employees and the offices will remain open.

While talking to the reporters, Uddhav Thackeray informed that the local train and bus services in Maharashtra will remain open until people refrain non-essential travel.

“We will have to take a harsh decision of shutting down train and bus services if people don’t refrain from non-essential travel,” CM Uddhav Thackeray asserted.

After the cabinet meeting, CM Uddhav Thackeray said that no decision has been taken on the closure of government offices and they will remain functional.

“The government offices will remain open in Maharashtra with 50 per cent attendance and there is no holiday for the government employees. We will try to work with minimum staff,” said Thackeray.

Speaking on the death of one patient tested positive for coronavirus or COVID-19, Uddhav Thackeray said that 40 people in Maharashtra have been infected in the state while adding that only one patient has died.

Earlier, Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope held a meeting with people from the corporate sector who ensured cooperation in controlling the spread of the novel coronavirus. In the meeting, the corporate representatives agreed to the decision of ‘Work from Home’.

The Maharashtra government had made it mandatory for the private offices in Mumbai to manage their operations with less than 50 per cent attendance while allowing the rest to work from home.

Maharashtra is the worst-hit state in India with 41 cases which have been tested positive for coronavirus or COVID-19. In Mumbai, seven cases of COVID-19 have been reported. Meanwhile, one 64-year-old who was tested positive for the coronavirus has died.
