Underworld don-turned-politician Arun Gawli, who is currently out on bail, is once again in the spotlight ahead of the upcoming Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections. While speculation is rife about his possible return to active politics, Gawli has publicly stated that he has no interest in contesting the civic polls.

Gawli’s political outfit, the Akhil Bharatiya Sena, has been relatively inactive in recent years. The party was being managed by his daughter, who had earlier been elected as a corporator. However, with Gawli now out on bail, there is renewed buzz about a possible revival of the party’s activities.

A former MLA and Lok Sabha candidate, Gawli has maintained a loyal support base in Byculla, and his influence in the area remains strong. Although he has ruled out running for office himself, political observers are closely watching to see whom he chooses to support, as it could significantly impact local electoral dynamics.
