After Election Commission issued a notice to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur over her “objectionable remarks” against 26/11 Martyr Hemant Karkare, the terror accused said that her comments did not intend to insult a martyr.  

In her reply, Pragya Thakur who is contesting Lok Sabha poll from Bhopal stated that her remarks should be seen as a whole. The terror accused in 2008 Malegaon blasts further informed that she was referring to the atrocities that she faced under then Congress government. Thakur asserted that it is her right to express the same. 

I did not intend to insult any martyr but my remarks should be seen as a whole. I have the right to tell people the atrocities that I faced under the Congress rule. The media has manipulated my remarks. However, I have taken back the comments while keeping in mind the sentiments of people,” said Sadhvi Pragya Thakur in a statement.

Earlier in a programme, the terror accused had claimed that Hemant  Karkare wrongly framed her in the Malegaon blast. Pragya Thakur further said that Karkare died because she had cursed him. Matryr Hemant Karkare died while fighting the terrorists during 26/11 terrorist attacks in Mumbai.
