Unknown Assailants Open Fire on NCP Leader Baba Siddique; Dies in Hospital

Nationalist Ajit Pawar faction leader and former state minister Baba Siddiqui has been shot dead. Baba Siddiqui was shot on October 12 around 9 am and he succumbed to his injuries at Lilavati hospital. 


The incident took place in front of MLA Zeeshan Siddiqui's office, in the Kherwadi area of Bandra East. Three unknown assailants fired three bullets at Baba Siddiqui, killing him. Police have arrested two people in this case. The police have started an investigation in this case and have arrested two people.

The threat came fifteen days ago

Baba Siddiqui was provided Y level security. Fifteen days ago, he received a death threat. A tight security has been kept by the police in the area of Lilavati Hospital and Bandra East area. Senior police officers have reached the spot and investigation has started.


Baba Siddiqui’s son Zeeshan Siddiqui is an MLA from Bandra East constituency. Prior to the Lok Sabha, Baba Siddiqui joined Ajit Pawar's NCP.

In his last tweet, Baba Siddique wished everyone Happy Dussehra. 


NCP leader Ajit Pawar offered condolences on X (formerly Twitter) for Baba Siddique.


"The incident of firing on NCP leader, former Minister of State, my colleague Baba Siddiqui who has been in the Legislature for a long time is very unfortunate, condemnable and painful. I was shocked to know that he died in this incident. I have lost my good colleague, friend. I strongly condemn this cowardly attack. I offer my heartfelt tributes to Baba Siddiqui.

"The incident will be thoroughly investigated and strict action will be taken against the attackers. The mastermind behind the attack will also be traced. With the death of Baba Siddiqui, we have lost a good leader who fought for the minority brothers and strived for pan-religious harmony. His death is a big loss for the NCP. I share in the grief of Zeeshan Siddiqui, Siddiqui family and their workers."
