Setback to Ajit Pawar: 4 resigned leaders might join Sharad Pawar's NCP

Four top Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leaders from Pimpri-Chinchwad, including the Students' Wing Chief, are believed to have quit giving a major setback to Ajit Pawar. They might join the NCP (SP) led by Sharad Pawar on July 20, as per the report by The Indian Express. NCP Pimpri-Chinchwad unit chief Ajit Gavhane confirmed that he has submitted his resignation to the party president.


Not only Gavhane but NCP Pimpri-Chinchwad Students' Wing chief Yash Sane, former corporators Rahul Bhosale and Pankaj Bhalekar have quit too. Meanwhile, the former NCP Pimpri-Chinchwad unit chief said that there are other former corporators and leaders as well who are planning to quit the party.

NCP spokesperson Umesh Patil said that they are sure that Gavhane won't take any decision in haste.
In 2023, the NCP split into 2 factions after a rebellion by Ajit Pawar against his uncle. Sharad Pawar remained with the Opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), while Ajit joined the Mahayuti government and became Deputy Chief Minister.
