In its mouthpiece, Shiv Sena on Monday opined that there should be strong measures to control the allegedly increasing Muslim population in the country. An editorial published in Saamana stated that compulsory family planning should happen, ensure population control and maintain national security.

The editorial quoted a Border Security Force (BSF) report which had information about the sudden increase in Muslim population in Rajasthan’s Jaisalmer and other villages which share the border with Pakistan. BSF had submitted the report to Union Home Ministry earlier.

Shiv Sena said that in order to control the same mandatory family planning is the only solution. The editorial stated that the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) should ensure immediate and firm steps to check the same.
