Shiv Sena had earlier announced the names of 70 candidates for the assembly elections in Maharashtra which are scheduled on October 21 while listing all 124 seats. This came after BJP released its first list naming 125 candidates.

Shiv Sena has not announced the candidate names officially in order to deter any opposition from inside the party. Rather, the saffron party has provided A-B forms to the candidates. 

Shiv Sena had named Aditya Thackeray to contest from Worli assembly constituency and the Yuva Sena chief today filed his nomination while carrying out a huge roadshow.

In a joint statement, Shiv Sena and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) declared that the seat distribution issue has been resolved between the two alliance. 

Shiv Sena has fielded encounter specialist Pradeep Sharma from Nalasopara assembly constituency while senior party leaders Pratap Sarnaik and Eknath Shinde will contest the assembly polls from Owla Majivade and Kopari Pachpakhadi, respectively.
