After the successful nine-days-long Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) workers strike, Shiv Sena on Thursday slammed the Union leader Shashank Rao for criticising Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray during the strike. Shiv Sena MLA Anil Parab alleged that Rao provoked the BEST workers to defame the party.

Earlier, Union leader Rao came hard on Shiv Sena accusing its chief Uddhav Thackeray had planned to sabotage BEST and its workers. Rao also accused the Shiv Sena chief of “ditching” the workers and said that Uddhav Thackeray stopped Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis from talking to the union. After Bombay HC asked the BEST union to withdraw its strike, Rao ended the strike while addressing the workers at Wadala Bus Depot

While addressing the media in a press conference, Parab said that Shashank Rao’s speech was scripted and was written by someone else. The Shiv Sena MLA said that the party has always supported the BEST employees.

We also want the workers to get justice. For that, Shiv Sena played the role of a mediator. However, what Rao told the workers during his speech differs from the Bombay HC’s decision.” Parab further added.

Shiv Sena MLA Parab claimed that Rao is misleading the workers by telling them that they’ll get a raise of ₹7,000 and If this happens, he’ll take back his allegations against Rao. Reacting to this, Rao informed Mumbai Live that the workers will get a raise of ₹17,000 but in phases. This will be visible soon and people will get to know who is misleading.

Shiv Sena had planned to go on a strike for one day and later, end it. However, that script did not work out and that is why, they are making these allegations,” Union leader Shashank Rao claimed.
