Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut has attacked senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Chandrakant Patil over his claims that there may be a mid-term election in the state.

“If you want to hold mid-term elections, you will have to go to Raj Bhavan and tell,” Raut sarcastically said while stating that the Uddhav Thackeray-led Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government will complete its five-year term.

Raut’s remarks come after Patil said that Shiv Sena, Congress and Nationalist Congress (NCP) can't stay together and will break up. "This is my analysis. Mid-term elections may happen," he claimed while ruling out the possibility of BJP joining hands with Shiv Sena to form government in Maharashtra.

People of Maharashtra don’t want elections and the Thackeray government will run for five years, the Shiv Sena leader said. Taking a dig at Patil, Raut said that the Election Commission might have given him some responsibility.

Speaking about his recent meeting with Devendra Fadnavis, Raut informed that he will meet him against to finalise the interview for ‘Saamana’. The Shiv Sena leader also said that he had expressed joy that a Maharashtra leader has got charge of Bihar assembly elections.

Patil, Maharashtra BJP President, has recently admitted that the meeting between Fadnavis and Raut was political but inconclusive. Reacting to this, Raut said that if two political leaders meet they discuss the country, farm bills, China, among other issues.

“Is it a sin to discuss politics? If two political leaders meet they discuss issues related to the country, farm bills, Jammu and Kashmir, China, Pakistan, COVID-19,” he said.

Earlier, Raut had said that it was not a crime to meet leaders from other parties while clarifying that he plans to interview Fadnavis, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

A day after the meeting between sparked speculations, NCP chief Sharad Pawar visited Matoshree to meet Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray. However, it was told that the meeting was routine.
