Maharashtra Higher and Technical Education Minister Uday Samant has assured that the state government will take a decision to implement the seventh pay commission for non-teaching employees of non-agricultural universities and colleges.
Samant said that the pending issues of non-teaching staff of non-agriculture universities and colleges in the state will be resolved positively. While speaking in a meeting held via video conferencing, the minister also urged the non-teaching staff to withdraw their strike.
“A review meeting was held today with the Vice-Chancellors of all non-agricultural universities in the state regarding the final year examinations and other related subjects. The issue of non-teaching staff was also discussed,” Samant tweeted in Marathi.
Apart from implementation of the seventh pay commission, several issues including assured progression scheme, five-day work week, pension for retired employees and recruitment process for professors and appointment of non-teaching staff was also discussed in detail.
Minister of State (MoS) for Higher and Technical Education Prajapat Tanpure, Additional Chief Secretary Rajiv Jalota, Director Dr. Dhanraj Mane, Director of Technical Education Abhay Wagh and representatives of the Maharashtra State College Universities Employees Action Committee and colleges were present.
The committee of non-teaching staff associations said that the meeting was positive but the talks remain inconclusive. Meanwhile, Samant said that the government was positive regarding the demands raised by the committee.
