According to the latest reports, on Tuesday, March 8, the Income Tax Department conducted raids at the office as well as the residence of Maharashtra cabinet ministers Aaditya Thackeray and Anil Parab’s close aides.
The raid was reportedly being conducted in Mumbai and Pune. In the backdrop of this, Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut while conducting a press conference questioned why the central agencies are targeting certain states such as West Bengal and Maharashtra. He further asked if they don’t find anyone from other states.
Raut believes that this is a tactic to pressurize and destabilize the ruling MVA government. The minister remarked that the Mumbai Police will commence the criminal extortion and syndicate by a nexus of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials. Moreover, Raut claims the officials' nexus are extorting contractors, developers and builders.
He further alleged that some officials from the said body will go to jail. Raut then went on to claim that some ED officials are contesting elections on BJP’s ticket. He is of the opinion that the ED is the ATM of the BJP and that he has given the records of extortions of these officers to the Prime Minister.
Thackeray too while interacting with the media uttered that the central agencies have been misused in the past too. He believes this has happened in other states and is now transpiring in Maharashtra.
The cabinet minister said, “Central agencies have in a way become publicity machinery of BJP itself. Maharashtra will not bow down.”
