In a war for taking credit, Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray on Sunday laid the foundation stone of the proposed coastal road project at Breach Candy in Mumbai. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis was not invited for the inaugural event organised by Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).

Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the city, Mayor Vishwanath Mahadeshwar earlier announced the ‘bhoomi poojan’ for the coastal road, which is supposedly a dream project for the state government and Mumbai’s civic body.

PM Modi will visit Kalyan on Tuesday for the launch of Metro-5 and other projects by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA). However, in this event, Uddhav Thackeray has not been invited.

Shiv Sena insisted on organising the launch of the coastal road after the initial work for the same began a month ago while not inviting CM Fadnavis. In the event, no Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) corporator, legislator or parliamentarian was present and this indicates that Shiv Sena’s decision did not go well with BJP’s top leaders.

While speaking at Amarson Garden in Breach Candy, the Shiv Sena chief attacked PM Modi regarding his foreign trips and said, “We have invited international tenders for the coastal road. If you (Modi) missed the same, he should seek the project during foreign trips.”
