Massive support is being shown by the citizens for the ambitious 'Majhi Ladki Bahin' scheme of the Maharashtra government. Under this initiative, women who earn less than INR 2.5 lakh per year as a household receive a monthly assistance of INR 1500. Direct deposits of INR 1500 have been made by the government into the bank accounts of multiple women in the state for two months.
However, a lot of women are still waiting on their applications to be submitted, and some are waiting to get official approval to avail benefits of this scheme.
Women must submit the necessary documents online on the state government's website to seek benefits from the Majhi Ladki Bahin scheme. The government associates assists many in doing so because a lot of women are unable to use computers or mobile devices to upload the paperwork.
Many of the associates said that the government website is unavailable or that certain webpages load slowly, which delays the filing of documents.
A Mumbai resident from Mankhurd who works in the organised sector claimed to be the lone wage earner in a household of five. When she discovered that the government will deposit INR 1,500 each month, she felt comforted. She made the decision to purchase her kids' school supplies with that money. However, the Anganwadi office has been unable to post her documents for the last two months.
Every day several women are turning up and checking their application status at local Anganwadis.
According to several media reports, the Anganwadi volunteers are stating that they have thousands of forms pending to be submitted as the website is running slow. They have informed senior government officials about the issues they are facing.
The process is further hampered by other problems like the Aadhar card not being connected to bank accounts and the temporary address not matching the Aadhar card address.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde recently declared that his government's goal of improving women's status throughout the state is demonstrated by the Ladki Bahin Yojana, an important campaign that provides funding to women so they can become economically secure and independent.
Instructions Given To Banks By The Government:
The government has instructed banks that even if a woman has an outstanding loan, the amount deposited under this scheme cannot be deducted against that loan.
If a woman's bank account has been closed for any reason, it should be reactivated. Women and Child Development Minister Aditi Tatkare said that after these instructions of the state government, now the women beneficiaries of Ladli Brahmin Yojana will receive the full amount, and no fee will be deducted by the banks.
