Dhananjay Munde to remain under home quarantine after recovering from COVID-19

After getting discharged, Munde informed that he was heading to his village in Parli while saying that his test report came negative for the second time.

Maharashtra Social Justice Minister Dhananjay Munde who tested positive for COVID-19 got discharged on Monday after recovering from the infection. Munde was admitted in Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai and will remain under home quarantine in his hometown - Parli in Beed district. 

After testing positive for the coronavirus, Munde was admitted to the hospital on June 12. Along with him, six of Munde’ staffers were also tested COVID-19. Munde became the third cabinet minister in the Uddhav Thackeray government to contract the coronavirus after Ashok Chavan and Jitendra Awhad. 

After getting discharged, Munde informed that he was heading to his village in Parli while saying that his test report came negative for the second time. He will remain under home quarantine as part of the treatment protocol before taking up his ministerial work. 

According to media reports, Munde’s private secretary, personal assistant, two drivers and one of his bodyguards have also been discharged after their second COVID-19 test came negative. However, Munde’s cook and a bodyguard are undergoing treatment for the infection. 

Earlier, Maharashtra Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Ashok Chavan and state Housing Minister Jitendra Awhad were tested positive for COVID-19. Fortunately, both the leaders were discharged after recovering from the coronavirus. 

As of June 23 morning, the number of cases in the state has risen to 1,35,796 and the death toll has reached 6,283.  In Mumbai alone, the number of COVID-19 cases has increased to 67,586 while the death toll in the financial capital has touched 3,737.
