After Farhan Azmi’s Babri Masjid remark created huge outrage, Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Abu Asim Azmi on Thursday criticised the statement made by his son.

While condemning the remarks made by his son – Farhan Azmi, Maharashtra SP President Abu Azmi distanced himself and the party from the controversy. Abu Azmi stated that his son’s remark on Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray visiting Ayodhya is his personal opinion and Samajwadi Party has nothing to do with it.

Earlier, Farhan Azmi had said that if Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray visits Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh (UP), he will also go with him, but to construct Babri Masjid. The SP leader asserted that he respects the Chief Minister, adding that the Muslim Personal Law Board would look into the Babri Masjid issue.

“Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray is visiting Ayodhya on March 7, I will also go with him. He will build Ram Mandir and we will build Babri Masjid,” Farhan Azmi said in Colaba while speaking at an anti-CAA protest organised by ‘Parcham Foundation’ and ‘We the People of India’.

Farhan Azmi had further stated that the visit of Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray to Ayodhya has created an atmosphere of anxiety among the Muslim community. "I call upon members of MVA and SP to come along (with him to Ayodhya)," Farhan Azmi said.

Earlier, Sanjay Raut had announced that Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray will be visiting Ayodhya after the completion of 100 days in power, to seek blessings of Lord Ram.

“Chalo Ayodhya!” Sanjay Raut had tweeted.

“The government is working hard and will complete five years with the blessings of Lord Ram,” Raut stated.
