Actor-turned-politician Sunny Deol on Sunday reached Mumbai after registering a win from Gurdaspur Lok Sabha constituency in the 2019 general elections. Deol won against senior Congress leader Sunil Jakhar by a margin of 82,459 votes.

Deol was elected as an MP from Gurdaspur parliamentary seat in Punjab on May 23. Actor Dharmendra and Bobby Deol were also seen campaigning for Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Sunny Deol.

On the counting day, Sunny Deol maintained the lead against his opponent since inception. After being declared as the winner, Deol said that he will work for the welfare of voters in the area.  

"I had faith that people in this parliamentary constituency love me very much and they have ensured my victory,” Deol further said, stating that he is committed to fulfilling the incomplete work of late MP Vinod Khanna.

After the 2019 general elections concluded, Sunny Deol can be seen active on social media. In the past, Deol had shared a selfie with his followers on social media. Recently, he was present in New Delhi at the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) meeting along with other 352 newly elected MPs.
