With the Maharashtra political crisis, taking a new turn daily, on Friday, June 24, rebel Shiv Sena minister Eknath Shinde has reportedly claimed the support of over 40 Sena MLAs, in addition to nearly 12 independents and smaller parties.

According to accounts, while interacting with the media from Guwahati, Shinde went on to dismiss the words of caution issued by NCP President, Sharad Pawar that the rebels would have to come to Mumbai before either the governor or the legislature in order to prove their strength.

Shinde was quoted in narratives elaborating on how they are not afraid of such threats. He went on to add that what they are doing is completely legal. Further, he uttered that they have the affidavits of all the MLAs highlighting that they have joined them voluntarily. He said that the majority is with them with over 40 Shiv Sena MLAs as well as 12 independent and others.

Narratives claim that while a day earlier Shinde told his supporters that they would join the BJP, on Friday, he denied meeting any BJP leaders in Guwahati.

On the other hand, the Shiv Sena, NCP and Congress have accused the BJP of instigating the rebellion to topple the MVA government. While the three partners have decided to stick till the end, Shiv Sena member Sanjay Raut had previously declared that Sena was ready to leave the alliance if the rebel MLAs returned to Mumbai in 24 hours.
