Former MP Anand Paranjpe has returned to the Shiv Sena after 14 years, marking a major political development in Thane district politics. Paranjpe, who had resigned from the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), officially joined the Shiv Sena led by Eknath Shinde at Balasaheb Bhavan in Mumbai.

Paranjpe said his return to Shiv Sena was like a “homecoming” (“ghar wapsi”), as he had originally built his political career within the party. He also praised Shinde’s leadership and governance style, saying he felt emotionally connected to the party’s ideology and old relationships.

The induction ceremony was attended by Shrikant Shinde and senior Shiv Sena leaders. Party leaders described Paranjpe’s return as an important boost for the Shiv Sena in the Thane-Kalyan belt ahead of future elections.

Paranjpe had left Shiv Sena in 2012 and joined the NCP. Political observers believe his recent exit from NCP may have been influenced by dissatisfaction over being ignored for Maharashtra Legislative Council (MLC) opportunities.
