Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) spokesperson Nawab Malik on Saturday said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government and Ajit Pawar will fail to prove their majority in the Maharashtra assembly. 

This government is formed by betrayal and will fail to prove majority in the floor test. All the MLAs are with us," said Nawab Malik amid the chaos in Maharashtra after Ajit Pawar took oath as Deputy Chief Minister in Devendra Fadnavis government.

Nawab Malik said that the common minimum programme (CMP) was instrumental in bringing together NCP, Shiv Sena and Congress to form the government in Maharashtra.

Malik, earlier in the day, accused Ajit Pawar of misusing the signatures of MLAs taken for attendance. 

We had taken the signatures of the MLAs for attendance but it was misused for providing support letter," said Malik.

While talking to the media, Malik said that Sharad Pawar will meet with the NCP MLAs. 

Devendra Fadnavis on Saturday morning took the oath as Maharashtra Chief Minister and returned to power for the second term. In a shocking move, NCP leader Ajit Pawar swore in as the Deputy Chief Minister at Raj Bhavan.

The oath ceremony was administered under Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari. The President’s rule in Maharashtra which was revoked in the early morning around 5:50 AM.
