Former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh in his statement to the CBI stated that he had apprised Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray and other ministers about the malpractices of the former home minister, Anil Deshmukh, reported the news agency PTI.

According to the report, in his statement, Singh claimed that he was pressurized into reinstating suspended police officer Sachin Waze into the police force by Thackeray and Deshmukh.

Singh went on to claim that he also informed NCP supremo, Sharad Pawar about Deshmukh's "misdeeds" back in March 2021.

His statement reportedly elaborates on how he met Thackeray multiple times in March 2021 and before that too where he briefed him about Deshmukh's misdeeds. He claimed to have attended a meeting at "Varsha" (the official residence of Thackeray in Mumbai) between March 4 - 15 last year where he briefed him about the Home Minister's deeds. To this, Thackeray allegedly just said that Deshmukh was his home minister.

Moreover, since Deshmukh was part of the NCP, Singh told Pawar about his "misdeeds". In addition to this, he told Ajit Pawar, Anil Parab and Jayant Patil about the same.

He claimed that Thackeray, Ajit Pawar and Anil Parab were aware of the malpractices, who he says did not confirm their knowledge in words, but their reaction he says highlighted that they already knew.

Singh reportedly went on to refute that he made corruption allegations against Deshmukh after he was removed from the post of the Mumbai Police Commissioner.

In his statement, Singh added that Deshmukh was vindictive and made false allegations of lapses in the Antilia bomb scare probe against him for his political gains.

Further speaking on reinstating Waze, Singh remarked that Aaditya Thackeray's personal assistant, Suraj Chauhan met him and pressurized him to reinstate Waze. Singh reportedly also spoke to junior Thackeray about it who told him to speak to the CM.

Further, during his conversation with the CM, he was claimed to have been told to reinstate Waze. Thus, he says his decision to reinstate Waze was because of political pressure.
