In preparation for the upcoming civic and rural elections across Maharashtra, the Shiv Sena (UBT) has begun laying the groundwork for a coordinated and grassroots-focused campaign. A high-level meeting, convened by party president Uddhav Thackeray, was conducted recently to assess organisational readiness and to develop a united electoral strategy.

The meeting brought together district leaders, office-bearers, MPs, MLAs, and other key functionaries, all of whom were tasked with ensuring seamless coordination between the party’s rural and urban structures. Held at Taj Lands End in Mumbai, the session was used to review performance reports from each district and assembly segment, while also identifying specific regional challenges. Party insiders reported that Thackeray urged his elected representatives to adopt an assertive tone during the upcoming monsoon sessions of Parliament and the Maharashtra Assembly. They were asked to highlight governance failures, rural distress, and infrastructure issues, positioning the opposition as a strong voice for the people.

Emphasis was placed on reconnecting with the grassroots, with particular attention given to booth-level mobilisation and youth engagement. The party’s cadre was instructed to initiate door-to-door outreach and participate actively in local programmes to reinforce public trust. According to sources, Thackeray reminded his team that the party’s revival depended on discipline, consistency, and a robust grassroots presence, especially following the internal split in 2022 that significantly impacted its organisational strength.

Speculations about a potential alliance with Raj Thackeray’s Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) were also addressed during the meeting. While no definitive decisions were taken, it was conveyed that all party units must be prepared to contest independently. However, the door to strategic tie-ups remained open, with a month-long feedback and review cycle from the ground expected to inform final alliance decisions.

Concerns were also raised by some legislators over local issues that could affect the party’s prospects, including inadequate development and regional dissatisfaction. These inputs were noted by the leadership for further review and action. The Shiv Sena (UBT) leadership, mindful of setbacks experienced in the last Assembly elections despite performing well in the Lok Sabha, is determined to sharpen its strategy and avoid repetition of past mistakes. With the election season nearing, the party appears focused on building a self-reliant and issue-driven campaign aimed at regaining lost political ground.
