Uddhav Thackeray should lead the nation: Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut

Replying to Raut’s remarks, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray said that he wouldn’t lead the country but will be happy if a Shiv Sainik becomes the Prime Minister.

On the occasion of Shiv Sena’s 54th foundation day, Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut has caused a sensation in the political corridors while stating that he sees Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray as the future Prime Minister of India. 

During the virtual interaction, Raut said that it was time for Thackeray to cross the state border and lead the country. The dream of Shiv Sena founder Bal Thackeray to see a Shiv Sainik as Chief Minister of Maharashtra, he added. 

“Now we see Uddhav Thackeray as the future Prime Minister of Indian who would lead the nation. You (Thackeray) are leading Maharashtra strongly as the Chief Minister. It is time to lead the country as well,” Raut said. 

Raut further said that under Uddhav Thackeray's leadership Maharashtra has been able to tackle the COVID-19 crisis, effectively. 

Replying to Raut’s remarks, Thackeray said that he wouldn’t lead the country but will be happy if a Shiv Sainik becomes the Prime Minister. 

Meanwhile, the Shiv Sena chief said that the party has not changed its ideology. He was addressing the Sena leaders and answered the general criticism his party receives for allying with ideologically different Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and Congress. 

Without naming its former ally - Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Thackeray said that he became the CM due to the politics which was being played. He was referring to the political deadlock between the Sena and BJP last year over the Chief Ministerial post. 

“Shiv Sena was established to fight injustice and he would continue the legacy of his late father and party founder Bal Thackeray,” he added. 

The top Shiv Sena leaders were present during the virtual interaction including Aaditya Thackeray, Anil Desai, Eknath Shinde, Diwakar Raote, Sanjay Raut among others.
