Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Monday suggested that a task force of expert doctors should be formed at the national level in order to tackle the spread of the coronavirus. 

The task force of doctors at the national level must be formed on the lines of the state task force set up by the Maharashtra government, Uddhav Thackeray told Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a virtual-meeting while adding that they should also communicate with the State task force. 

“CM Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray suggested that a task force of expert doctors like those in Mumbai and Pune must be formed at the national level and they must communicate with the State Task Force through video conferencing (sic),” the official twitter handle of CMO Maharashtra quoted Uddhav Thackeray as saying. 

Earlier, the Maharashtra government formed a special task force of doctors to combat the spread of the coronavirus or COVID-19 and to suggest the line of treatment for the infected patients. 

The Inter-Ministerial Central Team (IMCT) has visited Maharashtra twice since the coronavirus outbreak and has given suggestions to tackle the spread of the deadly virus in containment zones and highly infected areas. Uddhav Thackeray said that the central teams visited Mumbai and Pune and has given valuable suggested which were being supported by the state government. 

During the meeting, the Chief Minister also informed that the state government was focusing on testing more in containment zones where the lockdown was being imposed strictly. 

“Isolation and treatment facilities have also been created at Nehru Science Centre, Racecourse grounds, Bandra Kurla Complex, Goregaon Exhibition Centre etc. (sic),” the CMO Maharashtra said in a series of tweets. 

Uddhav Thackeray also requested the Prime Minister to resume Mumbai suburban local train services only for people engaged in essential services. They should be allowed to travel only by showing their identity card, he said.
