Mumbai – Due to non-availability of the caste validity certificate, Shiv Sena had imported a candidate from other areas to field him from Khardanda (ward no. 99) in spite of having candidates from the local area. This imported gave an impressive win to the Sena in the ward that is part of BJP city chief Ashish Shelar’s assembly constituency.

Shiv Sena and BJP had fielded imported candidates in ward no. 99 which was reserved for the candidate of ST category. The candidates of these parties are the residents of Worli and Versova respectively. Still, they were given tickets for possessing ST category certificates. Shiv Sena candidate Sanjay Agaldare defeated the BJP candidate, Jayendra Bhanji, by securing 9360 votes. Local residents were considering this fight not between two parties but among two Koliwadas. Khardanda residents favoured Sena candidate Sanjay Agaldare in this prestigious election.
