After the horrifying reports of ‘brutal’ attack on the students of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) in the university campus, the young crowd of citizens and students in Mumbai gathered at Gateway of India on Sunday mid-night.
The protestors remained all night at Gateway of India in solidarity with the JNU students while condemning the violence. The assembly of the protestors including students and youngsters was called immediately after the attack.
A large number of protestors gathered on the pavement across the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel near the Gateway of India and carried out candlelight vigil.

During the protest, former JNU student Umar Khalid was also present at Gateway of India. The protest at Gateway of India is still underway with more students joining on Monday morning.
On Sunday night, groups of masked men entered the JNU campus in Delhi and attacked the students and professors present there with sticks and rods while damaging the property in the university premises.
The students have accused ABVP and Bajrang Dal activists of assaulting the students inside JNU campus. However, the ABVP claims that the attackers were from the 'left organisations'.
