Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya was sworn in as the Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court at Raj Bhavan

Ramesh Bais administered the oath of office to Justice Upadhyaya at a brief swearing-in ceremony.
Spouse of the Governor, Rambai Bais, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Speaker Rahul Narwekar, Minister of Skill Development Mangal Prabhat Lodha, judges of the Bombay and Allahabad High Courts, Chairman of Maharashtra State Human Rights Commission Justice (retd) K K Tated, State Election Commissioner U P S Madan and senior government officers were present.
Chief Secretary Manoj Saunik read out the Warrant of Appointment of the Chief Justice issued by the President of India Droupadi Murmu. The swearing in ceremony started with the National Anthem and State Anthem and concluded with the National Anthem played by the police band.
Born on 16th June 1965, Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya graduated in Law from Lucknow University in 1991 and enrolled as an advocate on 11th May 1991.
Justice Upadhyaya practiced civil and constitutional sides at Allahabad High Court, Lucknow Bench. He was promoted as Additional Judge on 21st November 2011 and appointed as Permanent Judge on 6th August 2013.
