State govt. approves land for Venkateswara Temple in Navi Mumbai

As per reports, the renowned Tirumala Tirupati Devasthan had earlier demanded that land should be made available for the construction of a temple in Navi Mumbai.

The State on Wednesday, April 20, 2022, approved the proposal to lease of land to Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams for the construction of the Venkateswara Temple in Navi Mumbai's Ulwe area. As per reports, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray presided over the meeting.  

Under the special project as a city level facility, a land will be allotted in Sector-12, Plot No. 3 in Ulwe  for the construction of Sri Venkateswara Temple. Additionally, the land spanning 40,400 sq. m with floor area index of 1.00 has also been approved for direct allotment at a nominal rate of Re 1 per sq. metre.  

Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams Board has established temples of Lord Sri Venkateswara in Hyderabad, Chennai, Kanyakumari, Bangalore, Visakhapatnam, Bhubaneshwar, Jammu, New Delhi, Kurukshetra and Rishikesh. 

Considering the same, Tirumala Tirupati Devasthan had earlier demanded that land should be made available for the construction of a temple in Navi Mumbai. Sri Venkateswara Temple in Navi Mumbai will be a center of attraction for the devotees as well as tourists. The area will acquire religious and social importance and will also employment opportunities in the local area. 

Many socially useful activities will be done in this area through this temple. These aspects were presented and considering the same, this plot has been made available as a special case by the government.

As per reports published in January 2021, the board of the Andhra Pradesh-based Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) had decided to build a replica of the popular temple in Mumbai's Bandra East area, on a piece of land that was allotted during the previous government. The cost to build the replica of the Tirupati Balaji Temple was then expected to be INR 30 crores and the work for the same had to begin in January 2021.
